Our New Arrivals on Precious Acres

We had a surprise this morning! Our little dwarf nigerian goat Pandy gave birth to a little billy. He is very health and jumping all over the place. Pandy surprised us with just one baby, usally she has twins. He is a very long legged baby. We named him Sparticus. He is going to be the same size as his father Cezar when he grows up.....We also had a baby buff chick hatch out, I do not know if it is a Hen of Roster, I guess I will find out in a couple of months.....And finally new to Precious Acres is our new Silkie Rooster, he is a cream and orange color with very fluffy feathers. I am going to find and hen and rasing them.

A Snake in the Chicken Coop!

I have 8 hens laying eggs for me, sometime I get 5 in one day. But for the last week I have only been getting 2 eggs. Yesterday I went out to gather the eggs and was surprised to see that a 4 ft snake I caught 3 weeks ago and let go far away from my chicken house was curled up in the nestbox eating my eggs! I had marked the snake with black paint and that is how I knew it was the same snake. Now I have taken him 6 miles away from my chicken house and released him back into the wild. Hopefully he will not return. Today I retrieved 5 eggs.........And here is the picture of the snake!

A New Milking Stand

Today I decided to take on a little project. I have
a couple of goats in milk right now, I got tired of
sitting on the ground and getting bitten by red ants when I milked them . So I got some plans off the computer and gathered some old left over wood. It took me about 3 hours and walla a new milking stand for my goats.... and as you can see, they had no problem jumping up on thier new piece of furniture.

A Little Farm in a Little Town
Here in Old Town a one traffic light town on route 19/27 next to the famous Swannee River is our little farm where we raise goats, mini horses and chickens. Our little farm came about 3 years ago after a big move from the busy state of New Jersey. My partner and I decided that the hussle and bussle of New Jersey was not our choice living out the rest of our lives. She is retired and I am semi-retired. One day we sat down and said lets move down to Florida and purchase a small farm, something that we both can manage and keep us busy. Well it sure does!
We have now accumulated 11 goats, 25 chickens, 1 horse, 1 mini horse, 3 dogs, 1 parrot and 2 parakeets...........Well it time to feed the crew!
